Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a disease of the central nervous system. Dietary modification is emerging as a safe intervention to potentially modify disease course. The main aim of this study was to assess the safety and feasibility of an intermittent fasting diet in people with MS. Secondary outcomes explored the effects of calorie restriction (CR) diets on body weight and anthropometric characteristics as well as on patient-reported outcomes including fatigue, sleep and mood. The study is a pilot randomised controlled feeding study of three different types of diets. Each participant (n=36) was randomized to 1 of 3 diets: a control diet (placebo), a daily CR diet and intermittent CR diet. Results indicate that daily CR diet was associated with marginally greater weight loss than the intermittent CR diet. Both CR diets were associated with trends toward improvements in cardiometabolic outcomes. Furthermore, CR diets were associated with in improvements in emotional well-being. Authors conclude that CR and weight loss represent interventions for clinically relevant symptoms due to MS, such as emotional well-being, without adding meaningful risks or adverse outcomes.
Abstract
An intermittent fasting or calorie restriction diet has favorable effects in the mouse forms of multiple sclerosis (MS) and may provide additional anti-inflammatory and neuroprotective advantages beyond benefits obtained from weight loss alone. We conducted a pilot randomized controlled feeding study in 36 people with MS to assess safety and feasibility of different types of calorie restriction (CR) diets and assess their effects on weight and patient reported outcomes in people with MS. Patients were randomized to receive 1 of 3 diets for 8 weeks: daily CR diet (22% daily reduction in energy needs), intermittent CR diet (75% reduction in energy needs, 2 days/week; 0% reduction, 5 days/week), or a weight-stable diet (0% reduction in energy needs, 7 days/week). Of the 36 patients enrolled, 31 (86%) completed the trial; no significant adverse events occurred. Participants randomized to CR diets lost a median 3.4 kg (interquartile range [IQR]: -2.4, -4.0). Changes in weight did not differ significantly by type of CR diet, although participants randomized to daily CR tended to have greater weight loss (daily CR: -3.6 kg [IQR: -3.0, -4.1] vs. intermittent CR: -3.0 kg [IQR: -1.95, -4.1]; P = 0.15). Adherence to study diets differed significantly between intermittent CR vs. daily CR, with lesser adherence observed for intermittent CR (P = 0.002). Randomization to either CR diet was associated with significant improvements in emotional well-being/depression scores relative to control, with an average 8-week increase of 1.69 points (95% CI: 0.72, 2.66). CR diets are a safe/feasible way to achieve weight loss in people with MS and may be associated with improved emotional health.

Selecting foods for a day is easily influenced by the social environment and eating together or alone plays a big role in that decision. The study aims to evaluate the association between diet quality of the modern Korean adult population based on the eating behaviour and the socioeconomic factors that influence their diet quality. The study is a cross-sectional study which included 3365 men and 5258 women aged between 19 and 64 years. The study included demographic, socioeconomics, and health behaviour factors as covariates. Results indicate that diet quality is influence by eating behaviour. Authors observed that when Korean adults ate without a companion, their diet quality was significantly lower than those who consistently ate with others. Furthermore, from the higher education to lower education level, the diet quality declined when they eat alone. Authors conclude that many Korean adults are experiencing low diet quality when they eat alone. The study provides evidence to promote interventions to improve diet quality among the public.
Abstract
BACKGROUND To discover the association between eating alone and diet quality among Korean adults who eat alone measured by the mean adequacy ratio (MAR), METHODS The cross-sectional study in diet quality which was measured by nutrient intakes, indicated as MAR and nutrient adequacy ratio (NAR) with the Korean National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (KNHANES) VI 2013-2015 data. Study population was 8523 Korean adults. Multiple linear regression was performed to identify the association between eating behaviour and MAR and further study analysed how socioeconomic factors influence the diet quality of those who eat alone. RESULTS We found that the diet quality of people who eat alone was lower than that of people who eat together in both male (β: - 0.110, p = 0.002) and female participants (β: - 0.069, p = 0.005). Among who eats alone, the socioeconomic factors that negatively influenced MAR with the living arrangement, education level, income levels, and various occupation classifications. CONCLUSIONS People who eat alone have nutrition intake below the recommended amount. This could lead to serious health problems not only to those who are socially disadvantaged but also those who are in a higher social stratum. Policy-makers should develop strategies to enhance diet quality to prevent potential risk factors.

This particular paper reviews the effects of erinacine compound found in a particular mushroom named Hericium erinaceus (known as Lion’s Mane) and its health properties with regards to aging associated diseases of the nervous system, such as Parkinson’s disease, depression and Alzheimer’s disease. Animal studies reportedly show that erinacines stimulate the synthesis of nerve growth factor, which can prolongs the survival of neurons and reduce the consequence of neurodegenerative diseases. The studies discussed are encouraging to read and offer hope to those with a predisposition to or suffering from such diseases. However, more research in this field is required.
Abstract
Hericium erinaceus, an ideal culinary-medicinal mushroom, has become a well-established candidate in promoting positive brain and nerve health-related activities by inducing the nerve growth factor from its bioactive ingredient. Among its active compounds, only erinacine A has confirmed pharmacological actions in the central nervous system in rats. Hence, this review has summarized the available information on the neurohealth properties of H. erinaceus mycelia enriched with erinacines, which may contribute to further research on the therapeutic roles of these mycelia. The safety of this mushroom has also been discussed. Although it has been difficult to extrapolate the in vivo studies to clinical situations, preclinical studies have shown that there can be improvements in ischemic stroke, Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's disease, and depression if H. erinaceus mycelia enriched with erinacines are included in daily meals.

It is estimated that between 1% and 4% of the population suffer from binge eating disorder (BED), which is characterised by episodes of binge eating and a lack of control over eating. People with BED tend to have lower mental wellbeing and are more likely to be overweight or obese, leading to increased risk of related diseases such as type 2 diabetes. Treatments for BED include psychological treatments such as cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), and medication such as selective serotonin re-update inhibitors (SSRIs) and weight-loss medication, as well as medications that are normally prescribed for attention deficit disorders, addictions and epilepsy. The aim of this review was to evaluate previous trials on the effectiveness of a range of psychological, pharmacological and combined treatments for BED. The authors looked at 45 trials which included over 4,000 participants. They found moderate support for the effectiveness of CBT and guided self-help for the treatment of BED in stopping or reducing the frequency of binge eating. Overall, there was a lack of long-term follow-ups, with no data on the long-term effect of medications. Interesting, the use of SSRIs did not have a significant impact on depressed mood in people with BED and lisdexamfetamine was the only intervention associated with a reduction in BMI (an expected finding as this medication is associated with some loss of appetite). There were very few studies that directly compared psychological treatments with medication, and a lack of evidence on the effectiveness of treatment in younger adults and teenagers. The authors concluded that more long-term studies are needed in the treatment of BED (included exploring quality of life), standardised assessments of BED and people from underrepresented populations (e.g. adolescents).
Abstract
OBJECTIVE To systematically review the efficacy of psychological, pharmacological, and combined treatments for binge eating disorder (BED). METHOD Systematic search and meta-analysis. RESULTS We found 45 unique studies with low/medium risk of bias, and moderate support for the efficacy of cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) and CBT guided self-help (with moderate quality of evidence), and modest support for interpersonal psychotherapy (IPT), selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRI), and lisdexamfetamine (with low quality of evidence) in the treatment of adults with BED in terms of cessation of or reduction in the frequency of binge eating. The results on weight loss were disappointing. Only lisdexamfetamine showed a very modest effect on weight loss (low quality of evidence). While there is limited support for the long-term effect of psychological treatments, we have currently no data to ascertain the long-term effect of drug treatments. Some undesired side effects are more common in drug treatment compared to placebo, while the side effects of psychological treatments are unknown. Direct comparisons between pharmaceutical and psychological treatments are lacking as well as data to generalize these results to adolescents. CONCLUSION We found moderate support for the efficacy of CBT and guided self-help for the treatment of BED. However, IPT, SSRI, and lisdexamfetamine received only modest support in terms of cessation of or reduction in the frequency of binge eating. The lack of long-term follow-ups is alarming, especially with regard to medication. Long-term follow-ups, standardized assessments including measures of quality of life, and the study of underrepresented populations should be a priority for future research.

B vitamin supplementation has been found to reduce depression, enhance mood, lessen anxiety and improve cognition. New neuroimaging techniques have shed light on the relationship between blood and neural biomarkers, connecting diet quality and brain function. The aim of this randomised, placebo-controlled, double-blind trial was to investigate the effect of 6-month high-dose B-vitamin supplementation on neural and blood biomarkers of metabolism in 32 healthy adults. Participants were randomised to consume either B-vitamin supplementation or placebo pills twice a day for six months and underwent blood tests and brain imaging before and after supplementation. This study found supplementation effectively increased vitamin B6 and B12 levels and reduced homocysteine with no changes in folate as compared with placebo. Supplementation promoted neural metabolic pathways and reduced oxidative stress and inflammation. Based on these findings, the authors conclude B-group vitamins are important for maintaining brain health in healthy adults and may play a role in prevention and alleviation of neural disease and disability.
Abstract
A diet rich in B-group vitamins is essential for optimal body and brain function, and insufficient amounts of such vitamins have been associated with higher levels of neural inflammation and oxidative stress, as marked by increased blood plasma homocysteine. Neural biomarkers of oxidative stress quantified through proton magnetic spectroscopy (1H-MRS) are not well understood, and the relationship between such neural and blood biomarkers is seldom studied. The current study addresses this gap by investigating the direct effect of 6-month high-dose B-group vitamin supplementation on neural and blood biomarkers of metabolism. Using a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled design, 32 healthy adults (20 female, 12 male) aged 30⁻65 years underwent blood tests (vitamin B6, vitamin B12, folate, and homocysteine levels) and 1H-MRS of the posterior cingulate cortex (PCC) and dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC) before and after supplementation. Results confirmed the supplement was effective in increasing vitamin B6 and vitamin B12 levels and reducing homocysteine, whereas there was no change in folate levels. There were significant relationships between vitamin B6 and N-acetylaspartate (NAA), choline, and creatine, as well as between vitamin B12 and creatine (ps < 0.05), whereas NAA in the PCC increased, albeit not significantly (p > 0.05). Together these data provide preliminary evidence for the efficacy of high-dose B-group supplementation in reducing oxidative stress and inflammation through increasing oxidative metabolism. It may also promote myelination, cellular metabolism, and energy storage.

Previous studies have suggested that consumption of dairy products may be related to a reduction in the risk of cognitive decline in later life. Studies in mice suggest that particular components of whey known as whey peptides may be partly responsible for improvements in cognitive performance. The aim of this randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled study was to evaluate the effects of whey peptides on cognitive functions in healthy adults. 101 healthy Japanese adults (aged 45 to 64 years) with a tendency to forget names of people and places, took part in the study. They received either tablets containing 6g of whey peptide (including 1.6mg of glycine–threonine–tryptophan–tyrosine (GTWY) peptide) or placebo supplements for 12 weeks. Changes in cognitive function were assessed using memory and cognitive function tests at the start of the study and 6 and 12 weeks after supplementation. Whey peptide intake tended to improve the verbal fluency test (VFT) score. Further analysis showed that subjects with high-level fatigue from the whey peptide group improved their scores in the VFT as well as some other memory function tests significantly more compared to the placebo group. The authors concluded that intake of whey peptide might improve cognitive function in healthy middle- and older-aged adults with high subjective fatigue levels. Further studies are needed to examine the relationship among cognitive improvement, whey peptides, and psychological fatigue.
Abstract
Background: Previous epidemiological and clinical studies have shown that dairy products have beneficial effects on cognitive decline and dementia. Enzymatic digestion of whey protein produces a whey peptide rich in tryptophan-tyrosine-related peptides which improve cognitive performance in mice. We evaluated the effects of whey peptides on cognitive functions in healthy adults in a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled design. Methods: 101 healthy adults (45 to 64 years), with a self-awareness of cognitive decline received either whey peptide or placebo supplements for 12 weeks. Changes in cognitive function were assessed using neuropsychological tests at 6 and 12 weeks after the start of supplementation. Results: Verbal fluency test (VFT) score changes tended to be higher in the whey peptide group compared with the placebo at 12 weeks. Subgroup analysis classified by the degree of subjective fatigue showed that changes in the VFT as well as the Stroop and subjective memory function tests between baseline and 6 weeks of intervention were significantly better in subjects with high-level fatigue from the whey peptide group as compared to the placebo group. CONCLUSIONS Intake of whey peptide might improve cognitive function in healthy middle- and older-aged adults with high subjective fatigue levels. Further studies will elucidate the relationship among cognitive improvement, whey peptides, and psychological fatigue.

While BA has been tested in overall sports performance, few studies have examined the specific effect of BA in resistance training. The aim of this trial was to observe the impact of BA supplementation during a resistance-training programme in 26 weight-trained athletes. Participants were randomised to receive daily BA or placebo supplementation for five weeks, training three times per week. An incremental load test was performed before and after the training programme. This study found BA consumption significantly improved power output, weight lifted, number of sets executed compared with placebo. Based on these results, the authors conclude the ergogenic effect of BA supplementation on power generation were the result of an increased workload.
Abstract
BACKGROUND β-Alanine (BA) is a non-essential amino acid that has been shown to enhance exercise performance. The purpose of this investigation was to determine if BA supplementation improved the adaptive response to five weeks of a resistance training program. METHODS Thirty healthy, strength-trained individuals were randomly assigned to the experimental groups placebo (PLA) or BA. Over 5 weeks of strength training, subjects in BA took 6.4 g/day of BA as 8 × 800 mg doses each at least 1.5 h apart. The training program consisted of 3 sessions per week in which three different leg exercises were conducted as a circuit (back squat, barbell step ups and loaded jumping lunges). The program started with 3 sets of 40 s of work per exercise and rest periods between sets of 120 s in the first week. This training volume was then gradually built up to 5 sets of 20 s work/60 s rest in the fifth week. The work load during the program was set by one of the authors according to the individual's perceived effort the previous week. The variables measured were average velocity, peak velocity, average power, peak power, and load in kg in a back squat, incremental load, one-repetition maximum (1RM) test. In addition, during the rest period, jump ability (jump height and power) was assessed on a force platform. To compare data, a general linear model with repeated measures two-way analysis of variance was used. RESULTS Significantly greater training improvements were observed in the BA group versus PLA group (p = 0.045) in the variables average power at 1RM (BA: 42.65%, 95% CI, 432.33, 522.52 VS. PLA: 21.07%, 95% CI, 384.77, 482.19) and average power at maximum power output (p = 0.037) (BA: 20.17%, 95% CI, 637.82, 751.90 VS. PLA; 10.74%, 95% CI, 628.31, 751.53). The pre- to post training average power gain produced at 1RM in BA could be explained by a greater maximal strength gain, or load lifted at 1RM (p = 0.014) (24 kg, 95% CI, 19.45, 28.41 VS. 16 kg, 95% CI, 10.58, 20.25) and in the number of sets executed (p = 0.025) in the incremental load test (BA: 2.79 sets, 95% CI, 2.08, 3.49 VS. PLA: 1.58 sets, 95% CI, 0.82, 2.34). CONCLUSIONS β-Alanine supplementation was effective at increasing power output when lifting loads equivalent to the individual's maximal strength or when working at maximum power output. The improvement observed at 1RM was explained by a greater load lifted, or strength gain, in response to training in the participants who took this supplement.

The effects of acceptance and commitment therapy on eating behavior and diet delivered through face-to-face contact and a mobile app: a randomized controlled trial.

Acceptance and commitment therapy is one promising method in changing behaviour towards a person’s own value and goals. It aims to strengthen positive psychological processes related to commitment, behaviour change, mindfulness, and acceptance, which can be applied to promote healthy behaviour pattern. The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of acceptance and commitment therapy intervention delivered in two different ways i.e., via face-to-face group sessions and via mobile app, on reported eating behaviour and diet quality among adults with psychological distress and overweight or obesity. The study is a secondary analysis of the parallel-arm randomised controlled trial in which 3 different psychological interventions were studied. 219 individuals participated in the study with a mean body mass index of 31.3kg/m2, and a mean age of 49.5 years. Results indicate that acceptance and commitment therapy-based were able to change the reasons for eating from emotional or environmental triggers towards hunger and satiety cues, increase the acceptance of a variety of foods, and help the individual to perceive healthy eating more consistently. Authors conclude that acceptance and commitment therapy-based interventions delivered in the face-to-face group sessions or by the Mobile app showed beneficial effects on several aspects of eating behaviour.
Abstract
BACKGROUND Internal motivation and good psychological capabilities are important factors in successful eating-related behavior change. Thus, we investigated whether general acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) affects reported eating behavior and diet quality and whether baseline perceived stress moderates the intervention effects. METHODS Secondary analysis of unblinded randomized controlled trial in three Finnish cities. Working-aged adults with psychological distress and overweight or obesity in three parallel groups: (1) ACT-based Face-to-face (n = 70; six group sessions led by a psychologist), (2) ACT-based Mobile (n = 78; one group session and mobile app), and (3) Control (n = 71; only the measurements). At baseline, the participants' (n = 219, 85% females) mean body mass index was 31.3 kg/m2 (SD = 2.9), and mean age was 49.5 years (SD = 7.4). The measurements conducted before the 8-week intervention period (baseline), 10 weeks after the baseline (post-intervention), and 36 weeks after the baseline (follow-up) included clinical measurements, questionnaires of eating behavior (IES-1, TFEQ-R18, HTAS, ecSI 2.0, REBS), diet quality (IDQ), alcohol consumption (AUDIT-C), perceived stress (PSS), and 48-h dietary recall. Hierarchical linear modeling (Wald test) was used to analyze the differences in changes between groups. RESULTS Group x time interactions showed that the subcomponent of intuitive eating (IES-1), i.e., Eating for physical rather than emotional reasons, increased in both ACT-based groups (p = .019); the subcomponent of TFEQ-R18, i.e., Uncontrolled eating, decreased in the Face-to-face group (p = .020); the subcomponent of health and taste attitudes (HTAS), i.e., Using food as a reward, decreased in the Mobile group (p = .048); and both subcomponent of eating competence (ecSI 2.0), i.e., Food acceptance (p = .048), and two subcomponents of regulation of eating behavior (REBS), i.e., Integrated and Identified regulation (p = .003, p = .023, respectively), increased in the Face-to-face group. Baseline perceived stress did not moderate effects on these particular features of eating behavior from baseline to follow-up. No statistically significant effects were found for dietary measures. CONCLUSIONS ACT-based interventions, delivered in group sessions or by mobile app, showed beneficial effects on reported eating behavior. Beneficial effects on eating behavior were, however, not accompanied by parallel changes in diet, which suggests that ACT-based interventions should include nutritional counseling if changes in diet are targeted. Neurotransmitters (NTs) are chemical messengers, found mainly within the nervous system. Common NTs are acetylcholine (ACh), glutamate, γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA), dopamine, serotonin (5-HT), and histamine. Many foods are natural sources of NTs that may influence the nervous system, and therefore mood and mental health. This review paper looked at books and studies and discusses the NT content of foods and the possible implications for human health. Acetylcholine is a NT involved in muscle movement, learning and memory. Its presence is documented in more than 50 plant species, including squash, aubergine spinach and nettles. Glutamate is the most abundant excitatory NT in the brain. Glutamic acid naturally occurs in foods with high protein content. Seaweeds, cheeses, fish sauces, soy sauces, fermented beans, and tomato showed high levels of free glutamic acid. Dried cod, salami, caviar, and instant coffee powder are other sources of this amino acid. Salts of glutamic acid, such as monosodium glutamate, are added to certain foods as flavour enhancers. GABA is a calming NT. Studies have found the highest contents of GABA in raw spinach, potato, sweet potato and cruciferous vegetables such as kale and broccoli. Shiitake mushrooms and chestnuts also contained a significant amount of GABA. Dopamine plays an essential role in the coordination of body movements, motivation, and reward. Information on the content of dopamine foods is very limited. Bananas, plantains and avocado were reported to contain high levels of dopamine. 5-HT pathways modulate behaviours, eating, and sleep, and in the gut are involved in the regulation of gastrointestinal motility. In recent years, the number of studies on the content of 5-HT in plants has increased. 5-HT appeared to be prevalent in the green bananas, with higher concentrations found in the peel compared with the flesh. 5-HT was also found in peppers, paprika, hazelnut, tomatoes, pineapple, plum, passion fruit, papaya and kiwi fruit. Histamine is involved in arousal, attention, and reactivity, as well as in local immune responses. The presence of histamine in processed foods, such as aged cheeses, contributes to characteristic flavours and textures. Wine and beer may contain a significant amount of histamine. Fermented foods contain histamine. The food industry generally aims to maintain the levels of amines in foods as low as possible; consumption of fish, cured meat products, sauerkraut, and cheese varieties such as Cheddar, Swiss, Gruyère, and Gouda have been associated with amine poisoning. The significance of dietary NTs intake needs to be further investigated, as there is little data about their bioavailability or clinical implications. New studies should consider if dietary NTs can be transported across the blood-brain barriers or act on the central nervous system via other organs. The authors suggest that in future, including or excluding particular foods containing NTs could be beneficial for patients suffering from Alzheimer’s disease or dementia (an ACh diet), epilepsy or migraines (a glutamate-free diet), anxiety or insomnia (a GABA diet), Parkinson’s disease (a dopamine diet), depressive disorders (a serotonin diet), and vascular headaches (a histamine-free diet).
Abstract
Foods are natural sources of substances that may exert crucial effects on the nervous system in humans. Some of these substances are the neurotransmitters (NTs) acetylcholine (ACh), the modified amino acids glutamate and γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA), and the biogenic amines dopamine, serotonin (5-HT), and histamine. In neuropsychiatry, progressive integration of dietary approaches in clinical routine made it necessary to discern the more about some of these dietary NTs. Relevant books and literature from PubMed and Scopus databases were searched for data on food sources of Ach, glutamate, GABA, dopamine, 5-HT, and histamine. Different animal foods, fruits, edible plants, roots, and botanicals were reported to contain NTs. These substances can either be naturally present, as part of essential metabolic processes and ecological interactions, or derive from controlled/uncontrolled food technology processes. Ripening time, methods of preservation and cooking, and microbial activity further contributes to NTs. Moreover, gut microbiota are considerable sources of NTs. However, the significance of dietary NTs intake needs to be further investigated as there are no significant data on their bioavailability, neuronal/non neuronal effects, or clinical implications. Evidence-based interventions studies should be encouraged.

There is an increasing need to identify practical methods of delaying cognitive decline in the ageing population. Recent evidence has pointed to a connection between nutrient deficiencies, notably vitamin B12 and folate, and cognition, though inconsistent findings have been published. The aim of this randomised, blinded, cross-over study was to examine the impact of whey protein isolate (WPI) on cognitive function, vitamin B12 and folate status in 44 low-B12 individuals. Participants were randomised to consume 50g whey protein isolate or soy protein isolate as control for eight weeks, followed by a 16-week washout period. Blood samples were collected at the beginning and end of each intervention phase and halfway through the washout phase, and ten domains of cognitive function were tested at each clinical visit. Overall, this study found consumption of WPI significantly improved active B12 and folate status among B12-deficient adults. While this study did not find a direct association between B12 status and cognitive function, the authors conclude the observed changes in key biochemical markers and the relation of these to improved cognition are consistent with broader research literature. Based on these results, further research is needed to explore how vitamin B12 deficiency and cognition relate to other groups and populations.
Abstract
Whey protein isolate (WPI) is high in vitamin B12 and folate. These and other related markers (holotranscobalamin, methylmalonic acid and homocysteine) have been linked with cognitive health. This study explored the efficacy of WPI for improving cognitive function via delivery of vitamin B12. Moderately vitamin B12-deficient participants aged between 45 and 75 years (n = 56) were recruited into this randomised controlled crossover trial. Participants (55% female) consumed 50 g whey (WPI; active) or soy protein isolate (SPI; control) for eight weeks. Following a 16-week washout phase, they consumed the alternative supplement. Consumption of WPI significantly improved active B12 and folate status but did not result in direct improvements in cognitive function. However, there was evidence of improvement in reaction time (p = 0.02) and reasoning speed (p = 0.04) in the SPI condition for females. Additional analyses showed that changes in active B12, HcY and folate measures during WPI treatment correlated with improvements in cognitive function (all p < 0.05). Results indicate that WPI itself did not result in improved cognitive function but some evidence of benefit of SPI for females was found. However, consistent with previous research, we present further evidence of a role for active B12, HcY and folate in supporting cognitive improvement in adults with low B vitamin status.
